Here we have a story basically concerned with the life of one man.  Next to the youngest among a family of five boys and two girls, Claire Boyce is the narrator of this work which includes an autobiographical description of a Montana cowboy covering the period of about 1910 to present.  In covering his role in thie period, he delves back in time to the patriarch of the Boyce family, Stephen Boyce, born in Mansfield, Ohio, in 1847.  As a young man, Stephen Boyce traveled west to California, then north through Oregon and into what was to be the state of Washington.  From there he came east into Montana.  ...
